Sometimes you can work hard at a painting and it ends up in the bin. Sometimes, when you let yourself out to play and don’t try too hard to contrive a result, it works. This was out of my head, at the end of a day, at the end of a palette full of acrylic paint that I’d been been using for something else. It’s the summary of all the best sunsets I’ve ever seen up creeks and rivers on the east coast. Living afloat has its challenges (and don’t get me started on the subject of deck leaks!) but it’s still a privilege….
